Our commitment is to the Securities Industry as a whole. Our client base comes not only from mainstream stock broking, but also the futures, fixed income and financial spread betting markets and the regulatory authorities.

Firms within the Securities industry routinely undertake conventional credit checks on individuals or organisations before they will consider taking them on as a client. While such checks are important, they can only supply information on the historical financial status of an individual or organisation. Firms of all sizes have been experiencing losses since the abolition of the SMRS. All of the individuals concerned will have passed a traditional credit reference and address verification check

MRL provides the ability to search a continuously updated database of names and addresses of individuals and companies that have applied to become clients of member securities firms, and gives member firms access to industry confidential information which is unavailable through normal credit referencing. It does this by matching up client applications against similar or identical records already held, and putting the member firms in touch with each other so that a 'compliance to compliance' due diligence discussion can take place if appropriate. Experience has shown that it also enables us to highlight potential fraud or systematic default by identifying commons links between disparate member records.

By providing and maintaining an independent 'clearing house' of basic client data for our members, we are able to create and encourage a forum for the industry to circulate and cross reference information on potential problem clients, and encourage sharing on information in a legally permissible manner.
